Naturescape Manitoba book cover photo taken by Ian Ward.

This is a book for people who want to bring back a bit of the natural world to their surroundings, attract more birds and butterflies to their garden, or simply do something different in their yard. It is for people who want to enrich their perennial beds with native wildflowers or plant some berry bushes to attract migrating birds.

Skiing in a Wonderland: Winter Ecology

Rime frost (as in this photo) forms under heavy fog conditions (the previous night), causing the supercooled water droplets to freeze on contact with thin objects. Similar-looking hoar frost develops as water molecules undergo direct sublimation on objects, without foggy air. Calm air permits the formation of beautiful crystal formations, which eventually shower to the ground and evaporate .(R. Wrigley)
