The perfect way to learn about birds and birding! If you are interested in learning the basics of birding but don't know where to start or you need help identifying birds, this series of outings is for you. The outings take place every Tuesday evening from April 30th to May 28th and always start at 6:30 p.m. These outings will be led by Ward Christianson and Marlene Waldron, and possibly other knowledgeable birders. Due to overwhelming numbers for these events registration is now required on Eventbrite. Members will be free to register and a $5.00 fee will apply to non-members (per event ticket). Note there is a limited number of tickets available.

Registration will open up to members each Wednesday prior to the event each week and the general public on the Saturday prior to the event each week.  See individual activities for additonal information.

Please join Roger to hike at Whitemouth Falls  Provincial   Park. Wear appropriate clothing , hat and footwear . ( Trail is uneven ) , Bring water and lunch .

Meet at 9 am at Kildonan Crossings at northwest corner of Regent and Lagimodière close to Starbucks . Please be aware that the Starbucks has relocated to around where  the Royal Fork buffet used to be.  Carpooling will be arranged and driver should have valid Manitoba provincial park pass.

Bunn's Creek Centennial Park  6:30 p.m start time with details of exact location provided once you have registered on Eventbrite. Tickets for members are free and a $5.00 fee will apply to non-members.

Registration for members (only) will be open on Wednesday, May 8th and the general public on Saturday, May 11th. Registration closes on Monday, May 13th 8pm and there is a limited number of tickets available.

Location: Oak Hammock Marsh is located 20 kilometers north of Winnipeg between Stonewall and Selkirk.

Time: 10:00 AM.

Description: Oak Hammock Marsh
Birding:
A leisurely stroll around the cells of the marsh with binoculars to observe returning birds and water fowl. There will be be groups of 12 or less led by experienced birders.
Hiking:
Slower paced and faster paced walking groups around the cells of the marsh for the other participants.

Lunch: The cafe in the Wetland Discovery Centre is under construction. You can bring a lunch and eat at one of the picnic tables outdoors, or you can eat in Stonewall.

Bring: Your name tag.

We will look for prairie, wetland and woodland birds north of Libau. Red-headed Woodpecker, Yellow-throated Vireo, Orchard Oriole, Bobolink, Nelson’s Sparrow, Virginia Rail and a variety of warblers, raptors and shorebirds are all possible. We will finish the outing with a walk along the boardwalk at the Brokenhead Wetland Ecological Reserve.
Meet at the Boston Pizza at the southeast corner of Chief Peguis Trail and Henderson Hwy. at 7:30 a.m. for a departure at 7:45 a.m. sharp. For more info or to register contact Garry Budyk at gbudyk@shaw.ca or 204-667-1062.
