Join Roger for canoe / kayak on Lake Manitoba at Steep Rock . We plan on canoeing to Goat Island and explore the island and canoe along the shore and possibly explore some caves.
Near Vivian and Nourse on Highway 15, which is close to Winnipeg. This upper section of the Brokenhead is best paddled in May or June. The Brokenhead canoe routes are well described in “Through Field and Forest: A Canoe Companion for the Brokenhead River” by Dusty Moulinski. Note: This is a new exploratory trip for the Grey Hares.

This is an intermediate to possibly advanced canoe and kayak, full day trip down the scenic Pinawa Channel from the town of Pinawa to the Old Pinawa Dam Historic Park site (provincial park pass required). It includes fast water through rocky areas, rapids and at least one portage. We will have lunch on the way and tour the old dam site at the takeout.
The Mantario Cabin is looking for volunteers to help prepare the cabin for the summer program. Most work involved is cutting and hauling wood type of chores but there is never any shortage of tasks . Meals are included and participants have some leisure time to swim and use the sauna with a great bunch of people.
